Carrick Rowing Club

Carrick-on-Shannon Rowing Club has been an integral force in the history of the town over the past 175 years.One of the oldest rowing clubs in the world it has survived in Carrick through the famine, the civil war, the burning down of its boathouse by the Black and Tans in the 1920s.

It has also brought great pride to the town through its annual regatta festival at the August Bank Holiday weekend and more recently the Head of the Shannon in February annually. Membership is open to the public both adults and children and families. Rowing is a all year round activity. Winter Training in the evenings is facilitated in our gym which is included in membership. 

Carrick on Shannon Rowing club competes regularly around the country at regatta’s and Heads of the Rivers and there is also a strong leisure rowing group in the club.

Carrick Rowing Club is the oldest rowing club in Ireland and the second oldest in Europe and is celebrating its 175th year in 2011. Carrick Rowing Club has rowers of all ages and experiences from beginners to master’s crews and always welcomes new members.
